Dear Friends,
We are living through difficult times where instability is de rigueur, truth is belittled and cruelty seems a guiding principle. But the spirit of compassion rises above even the most ugly and I am reminded of this every year when those of us, grateful to be a part of this community, band together to raise money for the Stratton Community Foundation. SCF supports children and families facing hunger, health challenges and barriers to education. In southern Vermont, 65% of children live at or below the poverty level. For many, the essentials provided through the Stratton Community Foundation—winter boots, school clothing, dental kits and grocery cards—aren’t extras, but lifelines. And, unfortunately, the need is growing. This fall, grant requests increased by 17%, with nearly half supporting hunger relief and access to basic necessities. With safety nets slipping away, it is ever more essential to come to the side of those in need of our help. If you would like to be a part of this effort, please consider a donation. I stink at technology so if you run into a wall, know it is my doing and reach out to me at sjsaz@optonline.net.

With deepest gratitude,
Jessie
